Dear Parents,
The first week of school has been exciting and everything is going wonderfully. Welcome to the first copy of my weekly ‘News and Gentle Reminders.’ It is my hope that you find this information very helpful in planning for your child’s upcoming week. Please review this piece and all the items in the weekly blue folder and return the empty folder to school in a very timely manner.
Please mark on your calendar the Meet Your Teacher Night on Tuesday, September 7th. I look forward to seeing you at this very informative evening and hope that you can attend. It will be a special evening for all.
Thank you and God bless,
Mr. Wagner
Please Note:
All-School Liturgy
This year students in grades one to eight will be attending all-school Masses every Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Kindergarten will join us in January. All parents and family are welcome to join us for Mass on Thursdays.
Extended Day Program
We are very excited about continuing our Saint Bernard Extended Day Program from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. daily. An Extended Day Packet containing all information and a calendar was mailed home in August. If your child(ren) are going to participate and you have not returned the needed forms, please do so immediately. Children can not stay until all information/forms are on file. If you did not receive the mailing and need copies, please contact the school office.
(Please continue on back!)
Market Day Update
The Market Day committee is looking for volunteers to help with this program that helps lower the cost of tuition. If you are able to help one Monday a month, please contact Natalie Adametz or the school office for more information.
Safe Environment Policy – (Diocesan
Database)
In order to be in compliance, you
will need to complete the following:
5 Read and Sign – ‘Code of Pastoral Conduct’ booklet (Available in the school office and at Protecting God’s Children Workshops)
Any parent that has completed the diocesan database within the last month should email schooldata@stbpgh.org saying that you have done so. This will alert us to print a copy of the state criminal clearance and get the child abuse clearance request to you to complete.
Walk for a Cause
In today’s ‘Blue Envelope’ is information regarding our first of two ‘Walk for a Cause’ events that our school will be sponsoring this school year. Please do your best at participating in this fund-raising/service project that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Last year our school was very generous with helping out needy organizations with our ‘Walk for a Cause.’ Every little bit helps and I know that in these difficult times, the good people of Saint Bernard School will do what they can to make a difference. God bless and thanks!
BLUE AND GOLD DAY
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2010
Students typically have worn their Saint Bernard team shirts, Saint Bernard apparel shirts, or Blue/Gold shirts along with appropriate length shorts/pants/bottoms the day of the Fall Sports Pep Rally. In continuing with this tradition, I will be permitting the children to continue wearing these items as we show our support to our Saint Bernard athletic programs on Friday, September 10, 2010.
Students are permitted to wear:
Saint Bernard Team Shirts (as approved by their coaches/moderators)
(t-shirts must be worn with sleeveless uniform shirts)
(cheerleaders may wear their uniforms)
Saint Bernard Apparel Clothing (t-shirts-sweatshirts-polo shirts-etc.)
Blue and/or Gold Shirts (must be t-shirt-polo shirt-jersey with sleeves)
Appropriate uniform length shorts/pants/bottoms (jeans-swoosh pants)
Uniform Pants/Shorts/Bottoms (if desired)
Students will NOT be permitted to call home.
