St. Bernard Students Return from
Inspiring Trip to the Nation’s Capital
Six St. Bernard’s students recently returned from Washington D.C. where they attended a People to People World Leadership Forum. Seventh graders Cecilia Bashaw, Aaron Pavlick and Nicholas Stabile, and sixth graders Danielle Deiseroth, Meghan Schilken and A.J. Arnett joined with fellow delegates from around the world to participate in a weeklong educational journey through history and present day government.
Throughout the course of the program., the students learned about leadership and how great leaders throughout history have handled world events. Various hands on activities, professional speakers, workshops, and visits to significant memorials, museums, and monuments gave them a new perspective on the importance and essential need for informed and passionate world leaders.
All of the students returned excited to tell of their “totally awesome life changing experience”. Seventh grader, Cecilia Bashaw believes it was a “great way to learn history through new experiences and meet many new friends.”
People to People World Leadership Forums offer students a unique blend of specialized educational, leadership, and cultural exposure through a variety of programs as well as an itinerary filled with the highlights of the hosting community. While in D.C. the students formed many lasting friendships with other Student Leaders from around the world. Participants in these programs often experience life-changing attitudes toward individual and shared responsibilities , global leadership, appreciation of cultural diversity and enhanced personal growth and self confidence.
