What is the Scrip Program?
The Scrip program is a fund raising effort which
allows us to buy gift certificates ("scrips") from local retailers, at a reduced
cost. The savings are then credited to the specified student's tuition
account (minus 1% for administrative costs). Credit will be applied on
a quarterly basis.
For example: If you buy $1000 worth of Giant
Eagle gift cards in 5 months, $40 (4% of that amount) is directly credited to
reduce your tuition balance.
imagine doing this for all of your grocery bills, gas bills,
retail shopping, gift card purchases and holiday shopping, and even home
improvement costs, year round!
How do I participate?
You can participate in the program by filling out a Scrip order
form which you can print from this Web site. (Copies are also available in
the band room on Wed. & Fri. 2:30 - 3 pm and at the rectory after 9:30am,
11:00am, and 12:30pm masses.)
The order form lists all of the participating stores (over 175)
and the discount percent you will receive after one percent is retained for
program costs. Payment is due at the time the order is placed. Based on demand,
some grocery store and other large retailer certificates will be available at
the time you place your order. Store certificates not kept in our regular stock
will be ordered for you upon placement of your order form and payment, and then
forwarded to you when we receive them. We will carry more retailers on site for
immediate purchase as the program develops.
What if family or friends want to participate to help our
family?
Please encourage them to do so! Every order form will have a
line to designate the family who will receive the tuition credit from the
purchase. Family and friends can order scrips through you, or they can simply
order on their own, and designate your family as the credit recipient. For those
who do not indicate a specific family, the savings will be directed to the St.
Bernard School Angel Fund.
