The nursery and Kindergarten programs at St. Bernard School is child-centered and invites independent and group learning through exploration and investigation. In this environment we create a variety of opportunities which help to nurture each child's total development. Through this experience the child grows socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and physically.

The developmental curriculum incorporates a variety of learning activities. Through these activities the children develop a greater ability to learn from and understand their experiences, a heightened awareness of their personal worth and social responsibilities, a greater mastery over their physical environment, and a means for creative expression.

Our greatest emphasis is that of love -- of one's self, of family, of friends, and of community.

Goals

  • Providing a positive initial experience to school for children and parents.

  • Creating a hospitable, accepting environment that gives each child the opportunity to develop self-confidence and a positive self-image.

  • Following a program that balances an established routine for security with the chance to expand horizons.

  • Developing an awareness of God and fostering an atmosphere for the discovery of His love by respecting self and others.

Registration for St. Bernard School programs is held during the latter part of January each year. Every child must be registered for each year of the program. Preference is given to children already enrolled in the program and to children from families with students in St. Bernard school or who are parishioners of St. Bernard church. Copies of birth and baptismal records must be brought to registration. A $25.00 non-refundable fee is due with nursery registration. This will be used as an activity fee. A $50.00 non-refundable fee is due with Kindergarten registration. This will be applied to tuition. A $5.00 activity fee for Kindergarten will be collected during the first week of school.
