St. Bernard School’s Third “Walk for a Cause”
Mt. Lebanon, April 14-18, 2008: On Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week, St. Bernard students participated in their third “Walk for a Cause”. This particular fundraiser is done throughout the Diocese of Pittsburgh to raise needed funds for the people of Peru through various programs that benefit the Chimbote Missions. As they did in November when they raised a total of $3095 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and they did again in December, walking to raise monies for Christmas gifts for local and also in Peru, the St. Bernard students began their efforts by seeking pledges to sponsor them to walk laps around the school parking lot during recess. Once again, all students participated as well as faculty and staff and they hope to raise $1000 for the Chimbote Missions.
These walks have been part of a year-long campaign not only to inspire the students and benefit them personally through physical fitness, but to also raise awareness and funding for the various organizations in need. Through this most recent walk, their goal is to send aid to our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Chimbote, Peru.
